After coming under fire from Republicans James Johnson announced today that he would step down as the head of the vice presidential selection group. For the past few days he has been discredited for his dealings with the sub prime lender group Countrywide Financial Corp., after the Wall Street Journal reported he had received more than $2million in home loans from Countrywide. It was suggested that these loans might have been below average market rates which led Johnson to step down as to not be yet another negative factor in Obama's campaign.
